Bobby Kimbrough for Sheriff

 

Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr. has the experience, values and desire to serve the people of Forsyth County, North Carolina as their Sheriff. He has selflessly served through the ranks in various law enforcement agencies. Bobby has had a direct impact on the lives of individuals and families throughout our city, our county, our country. Just as he has his entire career, as Sheriff, he will put the people of Forsyth County and our safety first.

 

BOBBY’S BEGINNINGS AND HIS FAMILY

 

Born and raised in Forsyth County, Bobby graduated from North Forsyth High School. He received his undergraduate degree from High Point University. Among his accomplishments, he considers being a single parent raising seven boys to be responsible and respectful young men his absolute greatest. Three of his children are currently enrolled in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and two of his children are currently enrolled at Winston-Salem State University. Bobby III, Jamesen, Jordan, Bryce, Christian, Jalen and Isaiah are his great joys. Bobby was married to the late Clementine Kimbrough for 15 years.

 

BOBBY’S SERVICE AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONAL FOR 32 YEARS

 

Bobby began his law enforcement career in 1984 as a public safety officer for the City of Winston-Salem. During his years as a public safety officer, Bobby served the citizens of Winston-Salem as a crime fighter and fire fighter. In 1987, Bobby became an arson investigator with the Winston-Salem Fire Department and held the position of Assistant Fire Marshal. In 1989, Bobby moved to the North Carolina Department of Probation and Parole and worked with high risk offenders.

 

Between 1995 and 2016, Bobby served with the United States Department of Justice as a Special Agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He specialized in crimes against the government which includes organized crime, money laundering, drug trafficking and gangs. He was a certified Department of Justice Instructor with other certifications and trainings. Bobby’s professional endeavors afforded him the opportunity to work extensively throughout the United States of America. A speaker of the Spanish language, Bobby’s diverse background has opened doors for work internationally; He was a member of the Foreign Operations Group which functioned throughout the Caribbean. Bobby is known throughout the region by local, state and federal law enforcement for his interview skills, techniques, results and professionalism.

As a Winston-Salem Public Safety Officer:

  • Worked in the uniformed patrol division.

  • Worked as a certified Firefighter/Public Safety Officer.

 

As a Winston-Salem Assistant Fire Marshal:

  • Was certified in fire investigations.

  • Conducted complete and thorough investigations of fire scenes.

  • Inspected and enforced for code compliance and code violation.

 

As a North Carolina Probation and Parole Officer:

  • Supervised probationers’ and parolees’ activities in the community. 

  • Ensured probationers’ and parolees’ compliance with court orders and sanctions. 

  • Placed probationers and parolees into appropriate supervision levels through investigative and assessment processes. 

  • Counseled probationers and parolees. 

  • Testified in court proceedings.

 

As A Special Agent:

  • In 1996, assigned to the World Olympics in Atlanta, GA on security detail. 

  • In 2001, assigned to the U.S. Air Marshals detail for 9/11 terrorist attacks. 

  • Assigned to Foreign Operations Group (FOG). Responsible for international drug investigations. 

  • Trained and vetted foreign nationals on drug investigation techniques and working knowledge. 

  • Guided Heads of State, Government Executives and Country Ambassadors on safety and security procedures. 

  • Developed systems to safeguard persons, property, resources and intelligence information. 

  • Provided briefings and debriefings to country officials and other government employees and officials including providing strategies when threats became imminent. 

  • Developed and managed budget to include reporting and controls according to government standards.

  • Certified Government Instructor for Employee Assistance Program, Search and Rescue, Avoiding and Detecting Threats, Management of Hostile Individuals and Situations, Interviewing and Interrogation, Dissemination of Information. 

  • EEO Counselor handling disputes, encouraging resolution before complaints reach divisional level. 

  • Represented Department in relationship development to include connections with university leaders, elected officials, city executives and law enforcement. Bridge the gap between citizens and law enforcement. 

  • Conducted complex conspiracy investigations spanning local, regional, national and worldwide. 

  • Testified numerous times in court, team produced more case investigations than any other department in region, directed complex investigations, seized and salvaged significant amounts in assets and property.




BOBBY’S COMMUNITY SERVICE



Bobby is an active community leader. He creates and leads mentoring and training programs throughout the country and the county:

  • Collaborates with law enforcement agencies to provide training to officers to survive in both their personal and professional lives.

  • Partners with religious entities and community groups to provide safety and security training for churches and places of worship.

  • Coordinates and sponsors sports programs to enhance the development of youth in the community including more than 16 schools inside and outside of the county.

  • Provides training to high schools students and members of public service organizations on how to interact with law enforcement in a traffic stop.

  • Shares his expertise and commentary on how to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community for safer interactions.

  • Raises money for scholarship funds and educational programs for youth.

  • Partners with middle schools and high schools to provide mentoring programs.

  • Bobby is the author of three books designed to share his experience in order to help others.
